Comparing Color Pour Paint and Color Pour Cell Magic

VS.

Remember our fun galaxy paint pour pumpkin project from last fall? Well American Crafts has a new formula of color pour…so we decided to test it out and compare and contrast both formulas. Here’s what we found!

*Watch this video for a refresher on last fall's color pour project.

According to American Crafts’ description of Color Pour Cell Magic, “The specially formulated paint is pre-mixed with the right amount of pouring medium for optimal flow and amazing results.” And we found this to be true!

Their original color pour paint formula (shop here: https://bit.ly/2CnXl0fwas a bit thicker so it would flow slower across the desired canvas. The thickness of the paint also meant longer dry time. For reference, our galaxy pumpkin took several days to become completely dry. More paint was also used to fill up the entirety of the area.

With that being said, there was a lack of cells that developed in our artwork. No heat was used on these canvases this time around but instead let them air dry since heating was optional. However, we strongly suggest when doing this project yourself, incorporate a heating tool of your choice whether that be a hair dryer, butane torch, etc. Even though the cells weren't visible, it still made a cool, smooth paint pouring effect. View the video below to see how Jill at American Crafts gets the cells to magically appear using heat!

American Crafts has different options available in their Color Pour collection to add that extra sparkle to your projects. Their Color Pour Magic Paint Pens are new to the mix. We incorporated glitter (shop glitters here: https://bit.ly/3fYo6pQ) and a gold geometric heart (shop pens here: https://bit.ly/2XXVB5n) to add the perfect finishing touches to our pieces.

Our finished products together. Don't they look beautiful?!

Overall, both formulas produce colorful and beautiful designs. You honestly can't go wrong with a paint pour project. We see the future and it looks like you're going to be having a low maintenance/low key paint night very soon. ;) When you do, be sure to include our hashtag #SupplyingCreativity on your Instagram post!
